Admission to the Paynesville Historical Museum is always free. Donations are appreciated and help support the museum’s programs and preservation efforts.
The museum is open Thursday through Saturday, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Visitors can enjoy a resource room, a Paynesville timeline exhibit, a walk-through 1900s indoor village, a kids’ exploration and play area, comfortable lobby seating, and more for all ages to enjoy.

Appointments are also available outside regular hours, including access to our resource room for research, tours, and private events.
Our museum facilities are available to rent for private parties, reunions, meetings, and more.

We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals, groups, and youth. Volunteers are a vital part of the museum and our events. Members can serve on committees that plan events, assist with marketing, support building and grounds projects, and help with general museum and exhibit operations.
We have opportunities for all ages, abilities, schedules, and talents—there’s truly something for everyone who wants to get involved.

The mission of Paynesville Historical Society is to connect people to our community and inspire curiosity across generations, sharing and preserving the culture of Paynesville and rural Minnesota through discovery, preservation and programs making historical and cultural resources available to everyone.

We have a resource room that contains files on families, businesses, churches, schools, military, and so much more. We also have photo archives for added research. Online research resources can be found by clicking the link below.
